In his work, On War, Carl Von Clausewitz said that war is merely the continuation of policy with other means - often mistranslated as "by other means".
It would seem football is something similar.

I disagree. Football is still a good game.
It is the thuggish element who masquerade as supporters who bring the game into disrepute.
I'd hesitate to even call them supporters. These people go there with one intent, and it isn't to watch football.
