Alf Tupper


GB's success at the Olympics and Paralympics has been put down to funding. What happened to the spirit of Alf Tupper? He didn't need loads of money being thrown at him, just a good fish and chip supper....


If Olympic success is all down to money, what chance do poorer nations have?

Welding at all hours kept him fit plus he went faster with the two huge chips he had on (or off) his shoulders about the posh guys. The days of the Gentlemen and Players?

Indeed, when an amateur was an amateur and before big business and governments got in on the act. Money now buys medals.
