More kayaking on the Avon yesterday - Saltford to Swineford and back:
Apparently (according to the lady in the Jolly Sailor) a lot of kayakers shoot this weir - we're going to give it a go, but not before getting some helmets.
You can't use lifejackets with kayaks - they get in the way of the arms. You have to use "buoyancy aids", as they're termed. However, as far as I'm concerned, I'm using lifejackets the minute we go sea kayaking.
As for needing buoyancy aids for the schute - the water in the river is only up to your navel - or rather, my navel.
