Breastfeeding in Public

The other night we were watching an Amazon Prime TV series called Ray Donovan. In one scene Jon Voight was sitting in a plane and a woman a few seats back on the other side of the aircraft was breastfeeding a baby. Voight's character looked round and stared at the woman, ending up leering at her and winking, upon which the woman doing the breastfeeding made efforts to be a bit more discreet.

To me this summed up the public breastfeeding debate. While, as far as I'm concerned, it should be OK for a woman to breastfeed in public, she must be prepared to deal with the pervs. If she's OK with someone staring at her, no problem. If she isn't, then she should be a bit more discrete.

I have the same view about Islamic fashion wear. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, but it obviously bothers some (why, I don't know). So long as the wearer can put up with the prejudice, fine.

Prejudice won't disappear - it might decrease, but it's always there. The reasons for it are many and complex, but it's a fact of life.

  1. Re. mandatory face veils etc, what if the motivation for objecting isn't prejudice?

Many would argue that it's not the "veil" part that's objectionable, it's the "mandatory" part.

Thought-experiment - In the cultures that do it, what % of women do you reckon would still choose to wear a black body-bag if they had equal gender rights? (from my experience, I'd wager not many)

    1. The vast majority of objectors in the UK are not concerned with whether a woman is being forced to wear a veil, but that she wears a veil.

    2. Are they?

We've had nuns for donkeys years, and (most) people seem fine with that. Is this because they know it's choice and not misogyny? I completely agree there are bigots out there (load's of em) but "vast majority" - I wonder if there's any real data on that..

    3. No - it's because nuns aren't immigrants.

    4. Plus, all those "naughty" films probably..

    5. What - with nuns in them? Tell me more...

Hello everyone, Holiday Palace as always, with the introduction of today's menu of food. In this period, salmon flows are strong. Today holiday palace casino that people like the menu of salmon. And today, the menu. "Salad with fresh cumin salted leaves" just heard the name, the stomach is very heavy. Okay, everyone to not drool over this, we go to start doing it better.
Let's start with all the ingredients before me.
    • Salmon fillet (Cut into pieces)
    • Chili
    • fish sauce
    • Brown sugar
    • 1 lemon juice
    • MSG
    • 6 glasses of garlic
    • Cumin
If you prepare everything, then we go to the way to do it together.
Start by making yummy sauce by spinning fresh chilli, garlic, fish sauce, sugar, lime and MSG together. Then add the mixture of water to mash with the prepared salmon to the plate of cumin leaves.
