The resin which I usd to fill the knothole feature has finally fully cured, allowing me to sand it down to the same level as the table top.
Belt sander on 120 grit and then wet and dry (with water|) using 320 grit, 1,000 grit and finally 2,500 grit for a polished finish.
All LED lights work perfectly and my recessed switch on the underside is just dandy. Gave it a couple of coats of satin finish kitchen top oil, with a few more to be applied once fully dry.
I can now give some attention to a suitable setup for the legs. I'm still rather keen on a fabricated tree trunk, with the 'branches' attached to an oblong cradle to maximally support the slab. It will all depend on cost, but I'm willing to pay quite a bit for it.
