Bought myself a hiking stick on eBay that incorporates a telescope and compass in the handle.
The telescope sits in the shaft. Once raised from the shaft you then set it horizontal and extend it. Unfortunately, the sender in India sent a knob without the compass, but has promised to send it immediately for free.
Looks more like a walking stick than a hiking stick, but the adaptation makes it well suited to hiking. Dirt cheap too, as many Indian things are.
I intend to make my own modification by attaching a hand strap to it.
