Anti-Woke

It struck me the other day that the 60s and early 70s were possibly the most Woke period in human history, with hippies, flares, counter-culture, psychedelia, free love, cross-cultural influences and all that stuff. It was a period of enormous creativity, both artistically and musically.

The Anti-Woke brigade seems, to me at least, to be comprised of the children of that generation and those of that generation who, during the 60s and 70s, were labelled as 'square', being old fashioned or conventional fuddy-duddies, continued to dress like their parents and exuded a misplaced, misogynistic inadequacy resulting from an overbearing mother/spouse.

The High Priests of the Anti-Woke movement are simply loudmouths wanting attention, but they have infiltrated the 'Establishment', which itself is anachronistic and resistant to progress and therefore recruits like-minded clones - the Muggeridge Tendency, as I call them.

However, they are mostly paid to be contentious by the media companies that employ them to spread salacious gossip that generates sales. That is, however, unless they're politicians, in which case it's a strategy to garner support from those who read the gutter press and are psychologically susceptible to populism.

I suppose you could call the Anti-Woke movement a counter-culture in its own right but, as we all know, counter-cultures usually implode and become an historical footnote.

Führage, pictured above and one of the high priests, always reminds me of Zippy.

It must be the mouth. Mind you, I blame Meghan Markle.
