The last time Hay and I went kayaking we decided that we'd invest in a proper yak rack, as merely strapping two kayaks to the roof rack bars wasn't the best method and we were in constant fear of the damned things potentially coming loose along the M5, not that they could have actually fallen off.
Works a treat and needs only one person to load them up. 4 strops instead of half a dozen or more that hum in the wind - much safer on the motorway and less stress.

Welcome to increased noise levels, buffeting and fuel consumption! Upside down and flat by far the best way...but good luck with the fish. There's a moral to this story...if you have a mate who works in the industry he can give advice....and get stuff at trade price! ;-)
Dronski - better than one on top of t'other, which is the way we've been doing it this far. Precarious to say the least. The rack was only £29.
Should have thought of you when I purchased the paddle board today - Hydro Force, but 2nd hand and £185.
£29 per rack - so £58 for the 2.
