Boot Camp

Since we got the motorhome, the publication of the month in our household, and our bible for outdoor gear, is Campfire Magazine. Hay is a total devotee and scours it for advice on all manner of boots, firepits and snuggly outdoors stuff.

She managed to persuade me to ditch my trusty old charity shop walking boots for a brand new pair of Decathlon walking boots, and by gum they're certainly waterproof - right up to the top of my ankles - and comfy too. Not only that, but they're only £58, which is half the price of the nearest competitor. They're Canadian, and the Canadians appear to know a thing or two about outdoor gear.

The benefit of Campfire Magazine is that the writers actually test and review all the gear they feature in the publication - if they recommend something, it's really is good and not a fake review in return for money.
