Magical Tapas Tax

Here are the promised videos of the rollerballing.

On Friday evening Hay and I went to La Tasca, a tapas bar in Bath. Despite Hay having a 50% discount voucher the bill for the evening came to a whacking great £75. Tapas are such a Bloody rip-off. You don’t realise how much money you’re racking up in an attempt to have a decent meal comprising a variety of miniscule snacks that are exorbitantly priced for the amount you get.

La Tasca is a chain that owns several other brands and it has no genuine Spanish provenance that I can discern. In a move to counter the multi-brands encroaching on their market I think ethnic restaurant owners should club together and provide accreditation to the genuine article – Genuine Spanish Restaurant, or Genuine Italian Restaurant, etc.

I see the ‘artist’ Tracey Emin, that doyen of New Socialism, is about to skip the country to reduce her tax bill. The words hypocritic, talentless and cow come to mind. She is noted for giving quite vast sums to charities, but she obviously doesn’t see the donation of tax money to keep country running as a priority, preferring to choose where her cash goes. If we all took that line then the country would be a wasteland.

It has been alleged that Harry Potter author, JK Rowling, missed out on the Presidential Medal of Freedom because some US politicians believed she encouraged witchcraft. That’s a bit rich when Jesus was meant to have changed water into shiraz, walked on water, raised the dead and conjured fish en croute from thin air. If that ain’t witchcraft then I don’t know what is.

Now I definitely do feel queasy. But is it the downhill ride, Tracey Emin or religious hypocrisy which is the cause?

Hee Hee! That looks like fun!

Perhaps Tracy Emin will take her skanky bed with her. Finding the positive in everything.

JK Rowling... hmmm... sounds like some US Politicians had to keep the lights on at night. Bless.

Humm, US medal of freedom, nice, but having to shake George Bush's hand to get it... I think she probably did OK on that one.

Don't forget it's not witchcraft if you are indoctrinated to believe it, then it's called "miracles"; of course everyone else's witchcraft is obviously fake, obviously.

... but I don't think anyone proposed Jesus for getting the Presidental Medal of Freedom ... did they?

That rollerball thing makes me feel slightly sick! Or was it the wiggly camera!

Alan: Probably all three.

Kabbalah: Tracey Emin - take up thy bed and walk.

Steve: Obviously!

Drag: Now there's an idea for the religious right (or wrong). The wiggly camera work was not mine - I was on stills duty.

Strewth! You mean they normally charge $327 (NZ peso exchange rate) to feed two?!!
I'd be wanting Topless not Tapas for that...

George: Don't forget I'm talking Old World prices, not 3rd World.

;o)

I've come here looking for that witch, Kapgaf, Sir?! Do you know whence she came, and whither the Lady is these days?

Ditto re JK Rowling and witchery - Taking things a tad too far, methinks! This is the trouble with the far-right religious extremists - Trop de pouvoir!

Lawd, those rollerball thingummyjigs look scary - I thought it was just about to hit the car! How wasn't Hay sick?! She's a brave woman, she proves that by living with you in a caravan, in my opinion!

Ms. Emin is acting like a cow indeed. Hiding your true nature behind lame charity donations and then ripping the country off in tax money is somehow absurd. I wonder if her donations are even legit. By the way, you should check out my article on real estate donations. Quite a similar situation when a company donates a house, it's more trouble for the charity organization. But anyways, Thanks for your article!

Take care, Julie

Julie: An interesting article. In my humble opinion, tax is tax and no-one should be allowed to avoid paying it, as it's a crime against the rest of us.

Ensuring it's equitable is another matter.

Not talking to me then, are you? Or are you offended by me introducing you to Braja, whom you appeared to be bear-baiting this evening?! I'm here for a fight, can you tell? ;)

Chairman Bill said...

Woman: Sorry - I was preoccupied with Braja, who seems to have taken a dislike to me for having the temerity to question her beliefs and the science which pas probably kept her alive beyond her allotted years. I was not trying to bait her, merely to probe for answers, which she seemed unwilling to provide - which is strange for someone having such certainty.

Don't worry, Sir, I was only kidding - But it was a very heated debate over at Bold Braja's... I really think the lady's not for turning, and obviously neither are you and the battle of wits was entertaining, and at the same time, a bit like a Mexican stand-off - Um, wonder if they do Tapas in Mexico??! My best to you and Hay, Sir!
