Decency in Public Life

There's a quite simple solution to Sunak's and the Tory Party's plunging popularity - integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level of government.

Now where have I heard that phrase before? I'd add honesty to the list.

There was a time when politicians would be considered slightly more decent than the average citizen; however, over the last 10 years, it has become increasingly apparent that government politicians are generally substantially less decent than the average citizen.

That's not to say there are no government politicians that are still more decent than the average citizen, but that cohort has shrunk to an infinitesimally small number and they comprise politicians that have spent many decades in Parliament.

Could you imagine, in your wildest dreams, any of the current crop falling on their swords out of a sense of honour when making an egregious error or saying something which would result in the dismissal of anyone else? No, I couldn't either.

Sunak has hinted that the GE will be in the latter half of this year. So, odds on for a May election then...
