Off oop north with the trailer this morning to collect the galvanised GT6 chassis from Preston. Won't be filling up at any motorway service stations though.
The range of electric cars is increasing all the time with each new generation. Add to that the fact that charging your EV overnight at home will be the easiest and most convenient method of charging, the future of petrol stations must be very much in doubt.
Petrol stations are primarily owned by the oil companies. You don't have to be a genius to realise that the oil companies will be doing their utmost to delay the transition to electric cars, unless they can somehow obtain preferential, bulk-buy rates on the electricity they can buy to refuel EVs, making it more economical to recharge at a fuel station than at home.
This, of course, will require charging within a couple of minutes, not tens of minutes. The technology, however, is under development.
There again, if the energy companies (aka oil companies) got heavily into electricity from renewables, they would be quids in and their forecourt operations could survive.

We don't all live in houses with convenient off-road parking, nor do we take our houses with us when we travel further than the nearest supermarket. Supermarket car parks would be the ideal place for re-charging stations (or whatever we're going to call them): you go in and do your shopping, have a cup of tea and a slice of cake then go and collect your car.
Don't forget your flat cap: you'll want to blend in.
