Reverse Order

You come to your computer first thing in the morning, flash up the email and discover ten or 20 emails. They are presented to you such that the first one is the last one sent, which is counterintuitive, so you have to start going down the list to find the first one and then move up the list, but after deleting one, the system naturally moves you down the list, not up to the next one in the time sequence.

You'd think someone in the software world would have addressed this by now.

Depends on your email software; works fine in Outlook and Hotmail?

Not if you don't file everything in your In-Box.

Are you saying you can tell it to go to the first unread email (in the timeline sense), rather than the latest unread?

Shouldn't matter where you put things the trick is to be able to order the list by date received in reverse order; then you get the behaviour you describe as it works down the list?

But then I get emails at the top from 2 years ago that I want to keep. but have no logical filing place, and have to page down forever.

OK I see, you don't clear out your inbox then... that's what makes mine work, i.e. I move stuff I've read out or delete it.

In my personal inbox it stays there forever as a record, and in my work inbox it stays there till actioned or resolved.

I try to avoid very large lists, tends to slow things down.
